About Us

Sustainable & Integrated Development Society (SIDS)

Sustainable & Integrated Development Society (SIDS) is a Nepal-based not-for-profit organisation committed to improving the wellbeing and resilience of women, children, and disadvantaged communities.
Established in 2000, the organisation was originally founded to support communities through water, health, and sanitation training and advocacy. Building on this foundation, SIDS is now being revitalised with renewed leadership, strengthened governance, and a clear strategic focus to respond to today’s social, economic, and environmental challenges.

We believe that lasting community wellbeing requires more than access to services alone. It requires knowledge, skills, and the ability to make informed decisions. Our work therefore focuses on education, training, and advocacy that strengthen both health outcomes and economic resilience, particularly for women and children.

What We Do

Our programs are centered on community-based learning and capacity-building, supporting practical, community-led solutions that strengthen wellbeing, dignity, and long-term resilience.

  1. Community Health & WASH for Resilient Communities- Promoting hygiene, maternal wellbeing, preventive health, and safe sanitation practices to support healthier families in changing environmental conditions.
  2. Financial Literacy & Economic Resilience- Building financial capability for individuals and families to manage resources, strengthen financial security, and cope with economic pressures.
  3. Training, Advocacy & Community Awareness- Strengthening local capacity, inclusive participation, safeguarding, and community leadership through education and advocacy.
  4. Policy Engagement & Community Advocacy- Supporting constructive, non-partisan engagement to improve community access to responsive and inclusive essential services.

Across all programs, governance-focused training is embedded to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive decision-making.

Our Approach

We take a community-led and inclusive approach, working in ways that are culturally appropriate and responsive to local needs. Our programs are informed by professional expertise in health and finance, ensuring that our training and advocacy are evidence-based, ethical, and practical.

Governance and Accountability

SIDS operates under a governance framework that promotes transparency, accountability, and safeguarding, particularly in work involving women, children, and vulnerable communities. Strong governance supports the quality, integrity, and sustainability of all our programs. We are committed to responsible management of resources and to maintaining the trust of communities, partners, and supporters.

Looking Ahead

As part of our revitalisation, we are strengthening partnerships, refining programs, and building a sustainable organisation that can deliver meaningful impact over the long term. Our focus remains firmly on empowering communities to build healthier, more secure, and more resilient futures.

Vision

Building community resilience to social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Mission

To empower women, children, and disadvantaged communities in Nepal by strengthening health, financial capability, and community resilience through inclusive training, education, and advocacy, delivered with dignity, accountability, and local leadership.
